Health Careers Summer Camp

The Health Careers Summer Camp is a 5 day program held in Sheboygan and Manitowoc Counties. The camp provides an opportunity for high school students to experience first hand the challenges, opportunities and rewards of health professions. The hands-on activities are facilitated by instructors and health care professionals. Diversity awareness and leadership skills training are included as a part of the camp experience. Chaperones are present on site at all times. The first annual Health Careers Summer Camp was held in July of 2005. The next camp is scheduled for the summer of 2006.
A limited number of students are selected to attend camp based on the information provided in their applications. Students attending camp are provided lodging at the Lakeland College campus. Camp expenses; including the cost of meals, lodging and transportation, are paid through NEWAHEC funding, along with contributions from members of the LakeShore Health Care Alliance. Campers are expected to pay a nominal registration fee, which is due upon acceptance to camp. The registration fee is nonrefundable, with scholarships available if needed.
